Kids Company Update: 54 Celebrities & academics join to condemn the Charity Commission’s report

Charity Commission report and the Judicial Review

Leverets represented Camila Batmanghelidjh in the failed attempt by the Official Receiver to have her and the trustees disqualified as directors, in 2021, and has taken over the challenge to the Charity Commission, in the current application for judicial review.

The High Court Judge unequivocally stated that false allegations, not operational issues, led to the collapse of Kids Company. And yet the Charity Commission has maintained a contrary narrative about how the charity was run and why it failed leaving those involved stigmatised.

So, led by Kids Co’s former clinical director, those who still care so deeply about Kids Co will argue this week that the report is inaccurate, unjust, and predetermined, which calls into question the impartiality of an organisation that is supposed to protect the integrity of the UK charitable sector.

Hope for accountability and justice

It is hoped that this week’s long-awaited judicial review will finally deliver accountability and justice. We are only sad that our dear friend and client Camila did not live to see it.
